A Mindful Design

Go mad or go nomad

Six years ago I became irrevocably infatuated with the idea of designing my unique lifestyle. The term of the digital nomad emerged everywhere and I marvelled at this new mindset of a bunch of people, embracing the possibilities of digitization and giving themselves permission to live a (location-) independent life.

At that time I recently left my old life behind for some mandatory first-time-asia/first-time-solo-traveling. I was not sure where it would lead me and I did not even bother, I was just curious and “wanderlustig”(meaning: enjoying the fun of exploring the world).

But after returning from my travels I knew this would be my goal, to create a life as mindful as possible and in tune with myself and the world.

Still, it took me a while and a few detours to realize what I must do to get there and what I must un-do to become the mindful version of myself. After more than a decade had passed since my school education in art, I finally started serious painting again and made the decision and commitment to learn the digital way of it and start a mindful illustration business.

It literally started with this first little project for my friend – a festoon of hot-air balloons. And it has been my former logo ;)

I would love to say that all the little things in my life have led me right to this moment of self-fulfillment – and I’m pretty sure a lot of them must have been volunteers on that mission – but the truth is, I just realized I could no longer afford to NOT do what makes me feel alive. And that’s what creativity is all about: being/staying alive, right?! It is the essence of every living being: making things (and your life) more beautiful as they need to be.

So, here I am, drawing, painting and creating a world of mindfulness and hopefully making an impact in any conscious and beautiful way. And I encourage you to do the same!

Mindfully onwards
